Our nephrologist reviews your kidney function (eGFR, creatinine), dialysis history, and overall health. Blood group and cross-match testing are performed to identify a compatible donor.
The donor (living related or unrelated) undergoes comprehensive medical, surgical, and psychological assessment to confirm suitability and compatibility.
As per Indian transplant law, all living-donor transplants require approval from Charak Hospital's Authorization Committee before surgery can proceed.
The transplant is performed under general anaesthesia. The donor kidney is placed in the lower abdomen and connected to blood vessels and the bladder. Both surgeries happen simultaneously in adjacent OTs.
Kidney function is monitored closely in ICU. Immunosuppressant therapy is initiated. Recipient and donor are monitored in separate wards with dedicated nursing care.
